Airfix “Willy’s Jeep”

This recently introduced kit from Airfix is a completely new kit and not a revamped version of the 1/76th jeep that was included with their LVT-4 kit. The kit scales out to almost exactly 1/72nd scale. Detail is pretty good with only a few modifications needed.

The grill will need to be reworked to get rid of the British style plate and the grab handles on the rear should be replaced with some fine wire.

The windshield also looks like it could use some attention. Personally I plan on using the kit windshield as a template and fabricating a new one from sheet brass and one of the liquid type ”glass” products out there (essentially clear drying white glue). This kit can be built as either the Willys MB or the Ford GPW.

This kit has a lot of promise and many conversions can be produced from this. Other than those two items I mentioned this should build up to a very nice kit. I highly recommend trying this kit.
