T-49 replacement tracks for M4 Shermans. This accessory kit comes with 6 sprues of excellent quality resin T-49 steel cleat tracks, 2 new cast resin idiler wheeles and 2 cast white metal drive sprockets for all M4 variants. The quality of all the castings is excellent.
There are two methods to install the tracks around the idiler wheeles and drive sprockets. The first is to put the required amount of track into a cup of almost boiling water in order to soften the plastic. The tracks can then be easily curved around the wheels and sprockets. Another method, which is a little more time consuming but results in a better finished product, is to cut the individual tracks from the length of track. These individual tracks are then glued to the wheeles and sprockets in the same manner as the hard plastic treads.
